A good day indeed because I don't have to go to work (well internship) tomorrow! Ya!
I love MLK! He fought for what he believed in for one thing (most importantly) and secondly the USA decided to honor him in a way that everyone should look at as they enjoy their day off tomorrow, well those that have it off.

I love that fact that MLK day is falling the day before such an historic election of Barrack Obama. It's almost as though we celebrate MLK's dream.

And I realized that my own life wouldn't count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment in yours. In the end, girls, that's why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.

I want all our children to go to schools worthy of their potential-schools that challenge them, inspire them, and instill in them a sense of wonder about the world around them. I want them to have the chance to go to college-even if their parents aren't rich. And I want them to get good jobs: jobs that pay well and give them benefits like health care, jobs that let them spend time with their own kids and retire with dignity.


On Thursday as the teacher I am interning with read a book about MLK I realized just how lucky the children in this classroom are. It was amazing to see their reactions when the teacher told them about Jim Crow laws, and segregated schools when she was in school in the county. The students didn't realize the impact MLK made on so many lives, I hope that Barrack Obama will leave a lasting impression on the lives of children like those that are in this class. I still remember sitting in 3rd grade and watching as Bill Clinton was inaugurated. I was in shock and awe as I watched the pomp and pageantry. Now years later I have the honor of telling my future children I watched the first African American President be sworn into office and I can say I had the right and honor to vote for him. Being a history buff I see things becoming full circle..

It's just amazing to see history in action!
